FAQ

Here's an overview of basic questions about this site.

Story Questions

Q: Is Dragonball Z: ELSEWHERE a new official show/manga coming out?

A: No, it's a fan-based work, done by me, RMK. It is in no way official, although I'd love the idea of it getting adopted like Dragonball GT did. If you have any connections with Toriyama or Shueisha and like this work, by all means, show them. And no, it has nothing to do with Dragonball AF. That's a myth.

Q: Why the heck did you write about Yamcha? He's weak!

A: Check my essay "Why Yamcha?" for the answer to that.

Q: Where's Goku in all this? Dragonball is about Goku!

A: This story happens during the seven years after the Cell Games and when Buu arrives. If you recall, Goku was dead during that time. Seven years is an ample time to have a lot happening to a character too. You're right though, Dragonball isn't the same without Goku. He will make an appearance or two, trust me.

Q: Why isn't *insert character* in this?

A: Well first and foremost, Yamcha is my favorite character. But on top of that, Krillin and Tien and everyone else have established back stories. Yamcha, by far, is the most mysterious of the Z Fighters, the most misrepresented to American audiences by FUNimation (with an arrogant, playboy surfer attitude), and also probably the most hated by power-mongers. I wanted to take his character and go over it, past, present, and future with a fine-toothed comb and show that he really is an awesome character.

Q: Yamcha shouldn't have been able to work up to 400x earth's gravity so quickly! What's the deal?

A: Eh, hehe, yeah you're right. I guess I didn't depict that properly in my paneling. I was trying to convey, at least through the text boxes, that he attempted it over and over with repeated failures until finally achieving that level. Later on in the story he explains that his gravity training and his two days spent in the Room of Spirit and Time measured up to about six months.

Sorry for the confusion. ^_^;;

Q: Yamcha could never beat Recoome! That was just filler!! Why'd you do it, n00b?!

A: I got berated about that once before on a message board. I wish I had kept the old posts, because after doing about 6 essays worth of debate with those people about ratios of power increase between Goku and the humans using the same types of training and a real long one concerning Dr. gero's power calculations by the time of the Android Saga, I got them to concede that it was possible, even though it wasn't canon. But rather than go into a lengthy explanation here, I'll just say that it's DBZ and all sorts of crazy stuff happens.

As I told the ones before you who now pose this question, I have no problem using filler as long as it doesn't contradict the canon manga storyline. And lucky me, we never get to see what Yamcha could do after his resurrection... Don't worry though, despite the liberty I could take with that fact, I'm trying to make this manga believable. I do have some sense, y'know.

Site Questions

Q: Some of your links won't work. Why?

A: I try updating the site as often as I have materiel, and as the story goes along, I'll update sub-sections. To have some of them now would give away too much of the story to come.

Q: Can I link to you?

A: Heck yeah, you can. Spread the Yamcha love.

Q: When are you going to update?

A: Expect a comic update between one to every two months. The military and my many projects keep me very busy/ unmotivated. But essays, character profiles, and other goodies can show up any time.

Q: Why does it take so long to update?

A: Well, first off, I have to find time in between work and karate class to even do an issue. After that, it's just a gamble to see if I actually have any motivation left to work on it. Once I actually do though, it's a workload. I have the overall story written out, but I have to divide it and plot and script the issue. Then, I have to plot layout, then actually draw the thing. After that comes inking. On average, it takes me about two days to draw and ink one page, especially with backgrouns (which I'm doing more of for issues after the first). Multiply that by 10-15 pages and you have a month's work right there. Then I have to scan the work, and add in text and text boxes via Photoshop because my handwriting sucks. From there, it's just a matter of posting it onto the site with the proper links. It's pretty overwhelming for just one guy, but lots of people do it and I try not to complain.
